How do I stop leg cramps?

Certainly the best way to avoid cramps in legs is to prevent them by keeping well hydrated and having plenty of electrolytes on board.  Lots of water, but without plenty of electrolytes, can create issues.

Deficiencies of any one or all of the electrolytes can cause cramping.  So do you take more sodium, more potassium, more calcium, more magnesium, or more bicarbonate?  Yes.  Boulder Salt was designed to provide all of the primary electrolytes, in ratios that are easily absorbed and used by the body.

If you are in the middle of a cramp in your leg, besides the normal massage/stretching, a hypertonic solution of boulder salt (2 packets in 16oz water) consumed and swished around in one’s mouth will provide relief in a very short time.  You can also put a pinch of Boulder Salt directly in your mouth and let it dissolve for fast action…a bit salty, but better than a painful cramp.

Magnesium for cramping legs

Magnesium is often the the electrolyte that many people are deficient/low in.  Magnesium works for leg cramps.  The faster you can get it in, the better.  That’s why we recommend a hypertonic (2packets/16oz water) solution of Boulder Salt for cramping legs.  The blend of magnesium, potassium, calcium, sodium, and bicarbonate stops cramps in the legs incredibly fast, especially if taken on an empty stomach.
